Back in 2015, StatSocial released its list of TOP100 social media power influencers. Unfortunately, in the later years, I have not seen that they had done it again. So I must stick with that list.
But that fact does not lessen its importance. All these people are still mega-successful social media marketers and power influencers, even in 2019.
Therefore, what I want to do here is this. I want to show you how these 50 top social media marketing influencers use Twitter hashtags for business growth. What Twitter hashtags they use and how often.
Truth be told, I have done similar research already (in 2015). I did it with almost the same group of people, so it is easy to compare.
I wanted to know how their hashtagging habits have changed over the last couple of years.
Also, I wanted to know what are the most trending Twitter hashtags for marketing now (I did that by using Twitonomy tool).
So please keep reading.
Before coming to the list, though, there is one fascinating thing that I quickly noticed when I did the research. The idea that I saw was that many power influencers have considerably lessened their tweeting over the last few years.
Compare the “tweets per day” in the list below and this list, and you will see what I mean.
I think that one of the main reasons is that other powerful social media platforms are offering fierce competition to Twitter.
Take Instagram, for example. Back in 2015, it was not that popular at all. In fact, in 2015, Instagram had already started to gain traction (with about 400 million users). But its market share and influence are entirely different today. Plus, now it is the fastest growing social media platform with over 1 billion users already…
…While Twitter has grown from 300 million (2015) to only 330 million (in 2019). Pretty much no growth at all, if you compare with Instagram.
So I guess that the top social media influencers have turned their focus and energy to Instagram or some other SM platforms.
That being said, Twitter has remained one of the most powerful Social Media platforms for marketers. And tat’s why it is wise to learn from the pros – how to hashtag for business.

As you could see in the Twitter hashtag stats above, many of the top social media marketers use (at least some of the) Twitter hashtags that are extremely specific (like #sxsw, etc.). And even though these hashtags might be pretty much useless for you, at least you can learn how to hashtag for business.
